Mathematics is the same everywhere. What your state expects, and when it checks, is not.
We teach online across the United States. These pages exist because a handful of states run mathematics on their own terms — their own standards, their own tests, their own calendar — and a tutor who does not know which one you are in will be broadly right about the mathematics and wrong about the timing.
Three Things That Genuinely Differ
The standards. Most of the country teaches something close to Common Core. Florida, Georgia and Virginia do not — Florida replaced it in 2020, Georgia finished removing it in 2023, and Virginia never adopted it at all. California does use it, then layered a new Mathematics Framework over the top in 2023 that changed which year algebra happens in. The mathematics overlaps heavily; the sequencing does not, and a foundation taught a year later than your state expects is a gap nobody notices until a test.
When the test falls. This is the difference parents feel most. Florida measures mathematics three times a year, so a weak result arrives in the autumn with months of runway. North Carolina measures it once, in the last ten days of the school year, when nothing can be done with the answer. California hands the window to your district rather than fixing it statewide. Those are three different plans, not one.
What the test looks like. A child can understand a topic completely and still lose marks to a gridded numeric-entry box they have never seen, or to a calculator-inactive section they assumed they could calculate their way through. Item types are set by the state, and they are learnable separately from the mathematics.
What we are not: a local tutor who drives to your house. Every lesson is online, wherever you and we happen to be, and we would rather say that plainly than dress it up as a neighbourhood service. What we do have is flexibility on hours: lessons run from early morning through the evening in your own timezone, and we match your child to a teacher whose availability fits yours.
